Seating

Where to sit at Villa Park

  • Holte End

Villa Park's two-tier home end behind the south goal and the clear choice for atmosphere. The upper tier gives a dramatic view of the whole ground; lower central blocks put you inside the noise.

  • Trinity Road Stand

The modern three-tier main stand, with the dugouts, premium seating and strong side-on views. Central middle-tier seats are among Villa Park's best and most expensive.

  • Doug Ellis Stand

A compact two-tier touchline stand opposite Trinity Road. It keeps you close to play and its outer blocks can undercut equivalent halfway-line seats across the pitch.

  • North Stand works

The North Stand is closed throughout 2026/27 for redevelopment. Home and visiting allocations have been relocated within the remaining stands, so use the section on the listing rather than an older Villa Park map.

Background

Aston Villa club history

Aston Villa helped write English football's rulebook — founding members of the Football League, seven-time champions of England and European Cup winners in 1982. Villa Park remains one of the game's great traditional stages.

Aston Villa were formed in 1874 by members of the Aston Villa Wesleyan Chapel cricket team. Club director William McGregor drove the creation of the Football League in 1888, and Villa dominated its early decades: five championships and three FA Cups arrived before 1900, including the Double in 1896/97.

After decades away from that summit, Ron Saunders built the side that won the league in 1980/81. Tony Barton then completed the club's defining European run, Peter Withe scoring the only goal against Bayern Munich in Rotterdam to win the 1982 European Cup. Villa beat Barcelona over two legs for the 1982 European Super Cup that winter.

Relegation in 2016 ended an unbroken Premier League stay, but the 2019 play-off final returned Villa to the top flight. The modern revival brought three consecutive European campaigns, a Champions League quarter-final and then the 2025/26 Europa League — a 3-0 final win over Freiburg in Istanbul that ended a 30-year wait for a major trophy and took Villa into the 2026/27 Champions League.

Honours. 7 league titles · 7 FA Cups · 5 League Cups · European Cup (1982) · European Super Cup (1982) · Europa League (2026) · founding members of the Football League and Premier League.

The ground. Villa Park has been Villa's home since 1897. The Holte End's steep brick frontage and two packed tiers give the ground its identity, while the North Stand is being rebuilt during 2026/27; capacity and supporter locations are temporarily different until that project is complete.

Biggest rivalries

  • Birmingham City. The Second City derby is Villa's defining local rivalry, divided by only a few miles and more than a century of city history.
  • West Bromwich Albion. A historic West Midlands rivalry that predates the Birmingham City feud and produced three FA Cup finals in the 19th century.
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers. A West Midlands rivalry played whenever the clubs share a division. With Wolves in the Championship, there is no league meeting in 2026/27.

Getting to Villa Park

Birmingham · 36,887 capacity · Opened 1897

Villa Park has been Aston Villa's home since 1897. The North Stand is closed throughout 2026/27, reducing matchday capacity from more than 42,000 to 36,887 before the rebuilt ground moves beyond 50,000.

Public transport: Witton station is about 500 m from the ground (roughly a 5-minute walk) and is nearest the away end; Aston station is about 1.5 km away, 15–20 minutes on foot. Both are served from Birmingham New Street.

Away fans: The usual visiting allocation is maintained during the 2026/27 North Stand closure, but supporter blocks are relocated; use the entrance printed on the ticket.

Seating at Villa Park

Villa Park's Holte End is one of England's great home ends — two steep tiers behind the south goal. The Trinity Road Stand is the premium three-tier sideline and the two-tier Doug Ellis Stand runs opposite. The North Stand is closed throughout 2026/27 for redevelopment, so supporter blocks have moved; follow the block on the listing rather than an older map.

Holte End upper is the atmosphere pick at mid-range prices; Trinity Road central carries the premium.
