Background
Manchester City club history
Manchester City are the dominant force of modern English football — champions in six of seven seasons and treble winners in 2023, with a first Champions League to their name. Home is the Etihad Stadium in east Manchester.
Founded in 1880, City spent much of their history in Manchester United's shadow — cup runs, promotions and relegations, and a famously long-suffering support. Their 2008 takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group changed everything, backing a rebuild that ended a 44-year league wait.
The defining early moment came in 2012 — Sergio Agüero's stoppage-time goal against QPR, '93:20', won the title on the final day. But the dynasty was built by Pep Guardiola from 2016: record points totals, a run of four straight titles from 2021, and in 2023 a Treble of Premier League, FA Cup and a first Champions League.
City's era has redrawn the top of English football, turning what were once one-off title races into sustained dominance.
Honours. 10 league titles · Champions League (2023) · the 2023 Treble · 7 FA Cups · 8 League Cups · European Cup Winners' Cup.
The ground. The Etihad Stadium was built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and became City's home in 2003, now holding around 53,400 with further expansion underway. The South Stand behind the goal houses the loudest support, and the open bowl and continued redevelopment reflect the club's modern-era rebuild.

Seating at Etihad Stadium
The Etihad has three tiers on the East and Colin Bell (west) stands, with the Colin Bell side the premium sideline. The North and South stands sit behind the goals; the away allocation is in the corner of the South Stand.
Best value is usually the upper tiers behind the goals; the second tier along the East Stand balances price and view well.
