About Etihad Stadium
The Etihad Stadium opened on 25 July 2002 as the City of Manchester Stadium, originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. After the Games, the stadium was reconfigured for football and Manchester City moved from their long-time home Maine Road in 2003. A 10-year naming-rights deal with Etihad Airways began in 2011 and has been extended. Continued expansion has lifted capacity from the original 38,000 to 53,400.
Seating layout
Etihad Stadium seating plan & capacity
The seating bowl is asymmetric due to the Commonwealth Games athletic-track origin. The East and West stands are separated from the pitch by a slightly larger gap than the North and South. Premium seats sit in the South Stand mid-tier (the Tunnel Club). The Kippax (East) Lower has the most vocal home support.
South Stand (Family Stand)
Three-tier stand with the family enclosure, the biggest of the four stands by capacity.
North Stand (Colin Bell Stand)
Three-tier stand opposite the South. Named after the Manchester City legend in 2004.
East Stand (Kippax Stand)
Behind the goal, two tiers. Named after Kippax Street at Maine Road, where the original Kippax Stand stood. Home of vocal Manchester City support.
West Stand
Behind the opposite goal, two tiers. Houses the away allocation and directors' suite.
