Seating

Where to sit at Vitality Stadium

  • North Stand

The traditional home end behind the north goal and the best place for noise in this compact ground. Central blocks feel especially close to both goalmouths.

  • Main Stand

The west touchline stand holds the dugouts and hospitality. Its central seats give the clearest tactical view but sit at the premium end of Bournemouth's small inventory.

  • Ted MacDougall Stand

The temporary south stand behind the goal. It offers a direct end-on view and is often a lower-priced route in, with more basic facilities than the permanent sides.

  • East Stand

A close side-on view opposite the Main Stand. Visiting supporters use Blocks 21–24 at its south end, entered through Turnstile F, so check whether a listing is home or away inventory.

Background

Bournemouth club history

AFC Bournemouth are the Cherries, the small-ground club whose climb from the edge of liquidation to the Premier League became one of English football's best modern stories. Vitality Stadium keeps every seat close to the action.

Points at the start of the 2008/09 survival season

The club traces its origins to 1899 and spent most of its life in the lower divisions as Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic. The Cherries name came from the red shirts and, by one local telling, the cherry orchards beside Dean Court. Harry Redknapp delivered a famous 1984 FA Cup win over holders Manchester United and promotion to the second tier three years later.

The low point became the start of the fairytale. In 2008/09 Bournemouth entered administration, began League Two on minus 17 points and came within one defeat of leaving the Football League. Eddie Howe first kept them up, then led three promotions in six seasons, finishing as Championship champions in 2015 to reach the top flight for the first time.

Five initial Premier League seasons ended with relegation in 2020, but Bournemouth returned in 2022. The club has since moved beyond survival football while retaining the smallest, most intimate home in the division — a contrast that makes visits from the league's giants unusually scarce tickets.

Honours. Championship champions (2015) · third-tier champions (1987) · Associate Members' Cup (1984) · six consecutive Premier League seasons from 2015/16 before returning in 2022.

The ground. Dean Court has hosted Bournemouth since 1910; the present ground was rebuilt and rotated in 2001 and is now named Vitality Stadium. With only 12,357 seats, it is intimate rather than grand: low roofs, short distances to the pitch and very little spare inventory for high-demand games.

Biggest rivalries

  • Southampton. The South Coast meeting carries the largest regional profile, even if the clubs have not shared a division often enough for constant rivalry.
  • Portsmouth. Another South Coast contest, rooted more in geography and supporter pride than a long run of regular league meetings.
  • Brighton & Hove Albion. A modern coastal Premier League fixture between two clubs whose rise transformed expectations on England's south coast.

Getting to Vitality Stadium

Bournemouth · 12,357 capacity · Opened 1910

Dean Court has hosted AFC Bournemouth since 1910. The present stadium was rebuilt and rotated in 2001; now named Vitality Stadium, its 12,357 capacity makes it the smallest Premier League ground in 2026/27.

Public transport: Pokesdown station is roughly one mile away, around a 15-minute walk through Kings Park.

Away fans: Visiting supporters sit in Blocks 21–24 at the south end of the East Stand and enter through Turnstile F.

Seating at Vitality Stadium

Vitality Stadium is a compact four-sided ground. The North Stand is the vocal home end; the Main Stand on the west touchline contains the dugouts and premium seats, while the East Stand gives a close side-on view.

The temporary Ted MacDougall Stand sits behind the south goal. Away fans use East Stand Blocks 21–24 beside it. End and outer-block seats are usually the value choice; central Main Stand inventory is scarce and carries the premium.
