The two-legged semi-final (one home, one away) sits in early-to-mid January, and the single-leg final is held at Wembley Stadium under the arch on a Sunday in late February or early March. The competition winner earns Europa League qualification for the following season, provided they are not already qualified for European football via Premier League finishing position.

Wembley Stadium hosts the final, and most quarter-final and semi-final ties are played at Premier League grounds drawn from earlier rounds.
