Founded in 1905 at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea spent much of their first century as English football's great nearly-club — a solitary league title in 1955, cup runs and relegations, and a reputation for flair over silverware. Since the 2022 takeover by the Todd Boehly–Clearlake Capital group, Chelsea have entered a rebuilding chapter — heavy investment in a young squad as they chase a return to the summit of the English and European game.

The ground. Stamford Bridge opened in 1877 and is one of England's oldest grounds, with a capacity of roughly 40,340 — compact by modern standards and hemmed in by West London streets, which gives it a tight, loud atmosphere. The Shed End behind the south goal is the traditional home of the club's most vocal support; the Matthew Harding Stand runs the length of the east side. Every seat sits close to the pitch.

Stamford Bridge has hosted Chelsea since 1905. Currently 40,173 capacity, with redevelopment plans periodically discussed.
