History

About Fortuna Arena

Slavia played at an earlier stadium on the Eden site in Vršovice from 1953, but it was ruled unfit for league football in 2000 and demolished from December 2003. Construction of the new ground began in autumn 2006 after the budget was cut to about 1 billion koruna, and it opened on 7 May 2008 with a 5–0 exhibition win over Oxford University A.F.C. The first competitive match, a 2–2 draw with Jablonec on 17 May 2008, secured the 2007–08 Czech league title. It has carried several sponsor names, including Synot Tip Arena, Eden Aréna and Sinobo Stadium, and has been the Fortuna Arena since July 2022. Capacity was reduced from 20,232 to the present 19,370.
