Seating

Where to sit at American Express Stadium

  • North Stand

The home end behind the north goal, now including licensed standing and the Amex's most vocal support. Central blocks are the atmosphere choice.

  • West Stand

The large three-tier main side with dugouts and premium lounges. Upper central seats deliver the widest tactical view; the middle tier carries the hospitality premium.

  • East Stand

A two-tier touchline view opposite the main stand, with generally calmer surroundings. Upper corners tend to be better value than central West Stand blocks.

  • South Stand

Behind the south goal and the visiting-supporter location through 2026/27. The club plans to move the away section to a new south-west corner area, with away safe standing, from the 2027/28 season, so later maps will differ.

Background

Brighton Hove Albion club history

Brighton & Hove Albion are the Seagulls — a club that went from homelessness and near-extinction to the Premier League and Europe. The Amex at Falmer, the home supporters fought more than a decade to secure, stages Conference League football in 2026/27.

1901

Brighton & Hove Albion founded

1997

Football League status saved at Hereford

2011

The Amex opened at Falmer

2023

First qualification for European football

Albion were founded in 1901 and spent their early life in the Southern League before joining the Football League in 1920. Their first sustained top-flight spell arrived in 1979, and the unlikely high point came during relegation in 1983: Brighton drew the FA Cup final 2-2 with Manchester United before losing the replay.

The 1990s nearly ended the club. Owners sold the Goldstone Ground, debt mounted and a final-day draw at Hereford in 1997 preserved Football League status on goals scored. Brighton then shared at Gillingham and played for 12 years at the Withdean athletics stadium while supporters campaigned for a permanent home.

The Amex opened in 2011 and changed the club's trajectory. Promotion to the Premier League followed in 2017; careful recruitment and progressive coaching then took Albion to sixth place in 2022/23 and a first European campaign, including a first European away win, 2-0 at Ajax. Eighth place in 2025/26 brought Europe back: a 4-0 aggregate play-off win over Tromsø put Brighton into the 2026/27 Conference League league phase.

Honours. FA Cup finalists (1983) · FA Charity Shield winners (1910) · second-tier runners-up (1979, 2017) · third-tier champions (1958, 2002, 2011) · fourth-tier champions (1965, 2001) · European football in 2023/24 and 2026/27.

The ground. The Amex opened at Falmer in 2011 after a long planning battle and holds 32,176 for 2026/27. The South Downs setting and adjacent railway station make it unlike an urban ground; the North Stand holds the home noise and away fans remain in the South Stand until their planned 2027 move.
