Seating

Where to sit at Mestalla

  • Avenida de Suecia

The west main stand houses the changing rooms, the tunnel and the dugouts. Central seats give the best side-on view of the game and carry the highest prices.

  • Avenida de Aragón

The east side is the largest section of the ground, and its steep upper tier, at roughly 34-35 degrees, gives a dramatic view straight down onto the pitch. It offers a full overview at a lower price than the main stand.

  • Gol Sur

The south end is home to Valencia's most vocal supporters and is the place to be for atmosphere, chants and flags.

  • Gol Norte

The steep north end behind the goal. Visiting supporters are housed in its north-east corner, while the rest of the stand is usually a good-value home option.

Background

Valencia club history

Valencia CF are one of Spain's great historic clubs: six-time Spanish champions, back-to-back Champions League finalists and the proud tenants of Mestalla, the oldest ground in La Liga.

La Liga and UEFA Cup double

From the 1940s champions to Benítez's double

Valencia were founded in 1919 and moved to Mestalla in 1923. The club won its first La Liga titles in the 1940s, with championships in 1942, 1944 and 1947, and won back-to-back Inter-Cities Fairs Cups in 1962 and 1963.

After another league title in 1971 and the 1980 Cup Winners' Cup, Valencia reached two Champions League finals in a row in 2000 and 2001. Under Rafael Benítez, the club then won La Liga in 2002 and completed a league and UEFA Cup double in 2004.

Valencia won the Copa del Rey for the eighth time in 2019, their centenary year. Work on the replacement Nou Mestalla resumed in January 2025, but for now the club still plays at its historic home.

Honours. 6 La Liga titles · 8 Copa del Rey titles · UEFA Cup (2004) · Cup Winners' Cup (1980) · 2 Inter-Cities Fairs Cups (1962, 1963) · 2 UEFA Super Cups.

The ground. Mestalla opened on 20 May 1923 and takes its name from the Mestalla irrigation channel. It has been the oldest ground in La Liga since January 2020, hosted matches at the 1982 World Cup and the 1992 Olympic Games, and holds 49,430 fans in some of the steepest stands in Europe.

Biggest rivalries

  • Levante. The Valencian city derby against Levante is the club's closest local rivalry, and Levante were the opponents when Mestalla opened in 1923. Valencia vs Levante tickets →
  • Villarreal. The Comunitat Valenciana derby against Villarreal has grown in importance as the two clubs have competed for European places. Valencia vs Villarreal tickets →
  • Real Madrid and Barcelona. Clashes with the two giants are among Mestalla's biggest nights, and the stadium has a reputation as a tough place for both to visit. Real Madrid vs Valencia tickets →

Getting to Mestalla

Valencia · 49,430 capacity · Opened 1923

Mestalla has been Valencia's home since it opened in 1923 and is the oldest ground in La Liga. It stands close to the city centre, between Avenida de Aragón and Avenida de Suecia, and its unusually steep stands bring fans close to the pitch.

Public transport: Aragó station on Metrovalencia Lines 5 and 7 is directly in front of the stadium, and Facultats-Manuel Broseta on Lines 3 and 9 is also close. Bus lines 10, 12, 32, 41 and 79, among others, stop nearby. Parking is limited, so the Metro is the simplest option on matchdays.

Away fans: Visiting supporters are housed in the north-east corner of the Gol Norte.

Seating at Mestalla

Mestalla is all-seated and unusually steep, with its upper tier at roughly 34-35 degrees, close to the limit set by FIFA and UEFA. The Avenida de Suecia is the west main stand with the dugouts, the Avenida de Aragón on the east side is the largest section, and the Gol Norte and Gol Sur sit behind the goals.

The Gol Sur is the pick for atmosphere, while central seats in the Avenida de Suecia are the premium choice. The upper tiers and the Gol Norte usually offer the best value. Each listing states its section, so you can see exactly where you will sit before you buy.
