History

About Estadio de Anoeta

Anoeta opened in 1993 as a municipal stadium with an athletics track; the first football match, on 13 August 1993, was a 2–2 friendly with Real Madrid. Between May 2017 and 2019 the track was removed and the stands were brought up to the pitch at a cost of about €47 million, most of it paid by Real Sociedad. The rebuilt stadium reopened on 14 September 2019 against Atlético de Madrid. Further work began in May 2026 to fill the corners of the second tier and add upper sections to the Main and East stands.

Seating layout

Estadio de Anoeta seating plan & capacity

Since the athletics track was removed in 2019 the stands sit close to the pitch on all four sides, in two tiers.

  • Tribuna Principal

The main stand, which houses the press box and is gaining an upper section in the 2026 works.

  • Tribuna Este

The east stand opposite the main stand, also gaining an upper section in the 2026 works.
