History

About Estadio El Sadar

El Sadar opened on 2 September 1967 with a triangular tournament; Osasuna had played their last match at San Juan in May 1967. It originally held 25,000, only 7,000 seated, and the Tribuna de Preferencia Alta added in 1989 took capacity to about 30,000 before all-seating cut it to around 18,500. The club had to sell the stadium to the Government of Navarre in 2014. Between June 2019 and March 2021 it was rebuilt to the Muro Rojo design chosen by members, adding an upper tier on three sides, a new roof and rail seating in the south end.
