History

About Estadio La Rosaleda

La Rosaleda was first used in April 1941, when floods covered the club’s previous ground, and was officially opened on 14 September 1941 with a match between CD Málaga and Sevilla. It was designed by Enrique Atencia and Fernando Guerrero Strachan. The ground was renovated for the 1982 World Cup, when it staged three group matches, and a major rebuild between 2000 and 2006 made it all-seated and covered the side stands. The stadium passed to the city, province and regional government in equal shares after the old club went bankrupt.
