About Estadio de la Cerámica

Estadio de la Cerámica opened on 17 June 1923 as El Madrigal, the long-standing home of Villarreal CF in the small Valencian town of Vila-real. The ground was renamed Estadio de la Cerámica in 2017 in honour of the ceramic-tile industry that has defined the local economy for centuries and which underpins the Roig family ownership of Villarreal (Fernando Roig built his fortune through Pamesa Cerámica). Successive refurbishments through the 1990s and 2000s lifted capacity to 23,500 in the current all-seater configuration. The ground hosted Villarreal's run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2005-06, the club's 2021 UEFA Europa League title (the final itself was played in Gdańsk, Poland), and the 2022 Champions League semi-final against Liverpool.

Estadio de la Cerámica is a compact, complete bowl with relatively shallow rakes by modern standards — a product of the ground's piecemeal expansion over a century. The Fondo Norte is the loudest section. The Tribuna Principal lower midfield offers the best sight-lines.

• Tribuna Principal (Main Stand)

  Side stand along the touchline, two tiers. Houses the directors' box, the players' tunnel and the main press tribune.

• Tribuna Preferente

  Side stand opposite the Tribuna Principal, two tiers. Includes the main hospitality areas.

• Fondo Norte (North End)

  Behind the north goal — the spiritual home of Villarreal's most vocal support and the headquarters of the various Villarreal supporters' groupings. The loudest section at the ground.

• Fondo Sur (South End)

  Behind the south goal. Houses the away allocation in a corner section for La Liga and European fixtures.

Train

Vila-real RENFE station is roughly a 10-minute walk to the north of the ground. Cercanías Valencia services run from Valencia Nord (50 minutes) and Castellón de la Plana (10 minutes).

Bus

Castellón provincial buses run from Castellón de la Plana to Vila-real on matchdays.

Walk

From Vila-real central plaza: roughly 10-15 minutes on foot via Avinguda de Pius XII.

Drive

From the AP-7 autopista, take exit 49 (Vila-real / Borriana) and follow signs to the stadium.

Parking

Limited matchday parking around the stadium; the surrounding industrial estate offers paid options.
