About

Football in Manchester

Manchester's two largest football grounds are Old Trafford, United's home since 1910, and the Etihad Stadium, City's home since 2003. Both are reachable on Metrolink. Old Trafford holds around 74,000 supporters, while the Etihad's 2026 North Stand expansion took it above 60,000, giving the city roughly 135,000 seats across the two grounds. The wider area also offers football at clubs including Salford City, Stockport County, Oldham Athletic and Bolton Wanderers; check the route and fixture time for each ground.

Manchester tickets 2026/27

Two of the UK's three biggest arenas are here

Manchester holds an unusual position in British live music: Co-op Live (opened 2024, around 23,500 capacity) is the largest indoor arena in the UK, and the AO Arena (around 23,000) is the second. No other city has both of the top two, which is why major tours now routinely play Manchester on the same footing as London.

Stadium shows fill the summer gaps: the Etihad and Old Trafford both stage concerts between football seasons. Whatever currently has tickets on sale appears in the feed at the top of this page.

Sport beyond the two clubs

Old Trafford is two grounds: the football stadium, and Emirates Old Trafford — Lancashire's cricket ground, which stages Ashes Tests and international cricket. Sale Sharks play Premiership rugby at the Salford Community Stadium, and the city's Commonwealth Games legacy keeps world-class athletics and cycling events passing through.

What we list today — and what we don't

Anyseats lists football and live music in Manchester today. Theatre — the Palace, the Opera House, the Royal Exchange — and the city's comedy circuit are part of most visits, but we don't sell those tickets yet, and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise. When a category is added, its events appear in the city feed automatically.

How Manchester demand behaves

The derby is the hardest ticket in the city, and United's biggest visitors at Old Trafford — Liverpool, Arsenal — go next. On the music side, an arena residency's weekend nights sell before its midweeks, and Co-op Live's newest-room pull keeps its big openings tight. Weeknight concerts and early-season league fixtures remain the reliable cheaper entry points. Every price shown includes fees: the number you see is the number you pay.

Match-day tips

On a Manchester match-day

Pre-match pubs cluster on Sir Matt Busby Way (Old Trafford) and Ashton New Road (Etihad). Both grounds enforce strict bag policies (A4 or smaller) and require photo ID for tickets sold on the secondary market. Concessions are cashless. Old Trafford's South Stand redevelopment is constrained by the Manchester-Liverpool railway line directly behind it. Long-rumoured expansion to 87,000-90,000 has not yet been formally approved.

When to visit

Manchester football season

Manchester football runs August through May. The two derby weekends. Typically October/November and March/April, are the highest-demand fixtures of the season and require booking 2-4 weeks in advance for any reasonable price. Champions League knockout rounds (February-May) are the second-highest demand window.
