About

Football in Rome

Rome has two Serie A clubs and one football ground. AS Roma, founded in 1927, and Lazio, founded in 1900, both play at the Stadio Olimpico in the Foro Italico sports complex in the north-west of the city. It holds 70,634 and is the second-largest stadium in Italy after San Siro. It opened on 17 May 1953, was rebuilt and roofed for the 1990 World Cup, staged the opening ceremony of the 1960 Olympics and the opening match of Euro 2020 in 2021, and has hosted the Champions League final twice, in 1996 and 2009. The meeting of the two clubs, the Derby della Capitale, was first played on 8 December 1929, when Roma won 1–0; Lazio v Roma is currently listed for 13 December 2026. The Olimpico also stages Six Nations rugby, with dates listed for February and March 2027, and stadium concerts. The Foro Italico hosts the Italian Open tennis in May. For touring shows indoors, the Palazzo dello Sport in EUR, opened for the 1960 Olympics, is the main arena, and in summer the Ippodromo delle Capannelle racecourse and the open-air Cavea at the Auditorium Parco della Musica take concerts.

Rome tickets 2026/27

Football in Rome: two clubs, one ground

Lazio, founded on 9 January 1900, are the older club; Roma, founded in 1927, have won Serie A three times, in 1941–42, 1982–83 and 2000–01, and Lazio twice, in 1973–74 and 1999–2000. Both play at the Stadio Olimpico, so the ground changes colour with the home side rather than with the venue.

Roma's longer-term plan is a new ground at Pietralata, which Rome's city council approved at feasibility stage in 2026. Reports differ on the opening date, so nothing there affects the 2026–27 season: Roma play at the Olimpico.

The arenas and the music venues

The Palazzo dello Sport in EUR, the 1960 Olympic arena, holds 11,200 for basketball and is the city's main indoor venue. The Auditorium Parco della Musica, in the Flaminio district beside the Foro Italico, combines indoor halls with the 2,707-capacity Cavea, which is used for summer concerts. The Ippodromo delle Capannelle, a racecourse built in 1881 and rebuilt in 1926, is the home of the Rock in Roma festival, and the Circo Massimo takes the largest open-air shows.

Whatever has tickets on sale today appears in the feed at the top of this page.

The Foro Italico and the Olympic heritage

The Foro Italico is more than the football ground. The Italian Open, played on clay at the Foro Italico in May, has its main court, the Stadio Centrale, with 10,400 seats. The Stadio Olimpico opened in 1953 and the 1960 Olympics put both the stadium and the Palazzo dello Sport on the world map: the opening ceremony and the athletics took place at the Olimpico, and the basketball final and the boxing at the Palazzo dello Sport.

A weekend in Rome can therefore cover a Serie A match, a concert and the Olympic sites without leaving the Metro A and B network.

What we list today — and what we don't

Anyseats lists Roma and Lazio home matches when sellers list them, including Lazio v Roma on 13 December 2026, plus Six Nations rugby at the Stadio Olimpico, Oasis at the Olimpico in July 2027, Fontaines D.C. at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle on 18 June 2027, Sting at the Cavea on 2 July 2027, and Bob Dylan at the Palazzo dello Sport on 5 November 2026. Every price shown includes fees: the number you see is the number you pay.

We do not sell Italian Open tickets, tickets for the Roman museums and monuments, or Opera di Roma seats, and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Match-day tips

On a Rome match-day

Italy is on Central European Time, one hour ahead of the UK all year, so a 20:45 kick-off in Rome is 19:45 in London. The Serie A standard slots for 2026–27 are one Friday match at 20:45; Saturday at 15:00, 18:00 and 20:45; Sunday at 12:30, 15:00, 18:00 and 20:45; and a late Monday match, with exceptions for the opening rounds, the Christmas period and the final two rounds. Roma advise fans to check the date and time before travelling because fixtures can move for television scheduling, and the event page updates once a kick-off is confirmed. Allow extra time to reach the Olimpico: the last stretch is on foot, and Flaminio and Lepanto are some distance from the ground, which is why the tram or bus is the practical choice. Tickets are delivered by the seller before the event; your order page shows how and when.

When to visit

Rome football season

The 2026–27 Serie A season opened on 22 and 23 August 2026 and runs to 30 May 2027, with 20 clubs. The league calendar includes a Christmas break around 26 and 27 December 2026, and a midweek round on 6 January 2027. The Italian Open tennis is played at the Foro Italico in May. Six Nations rugby brings Italy home matches to the Olimpico in February and March. Rock in Roma, the summer concert series at the Capannelle racecourse and the Auditorium, ran from 9 June to 18 July in 2026. The Circo Massimo stages large open-air concerts in summer, among them a sold-out Cesare Cremonini show on 6 June 2026.
