About

Football in Budapest

Budapest is home to Hungary's best-known football clubs and its national stadium. Ferencváros, founded on 3 May 1899, play at the Groupama Aréna in the ninth district, which holds about 22,000, and are listed with European home matches this season. Újpest, founded in 1885, play at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion in the fourth district, which holds 12,670. MTK, Kispest-Honvéd and Vasas are the other Budapest clubs in the 2026–27 top flight. The Puskás Aréna, opened in November 2019 and seating 67,215, is the national team's home and has staged the 2020 UEFA Super Cup, the 2023 Europa League final and the 2026 Champions League final, as well as four Euro 2020 matches. The Ferencváros–Újpest derby has been played since 1905. For music, the MVM Dome, opened in December 2021, is the biggest indoor venue we list, with Papp László Budapest Sportaréna and the open-air Budapest Park also carrying touring shows. The Puskás Aréna and the Sportaréna are both on metro line M2; the Groupama Aréna and the MVM Dome are beside Népliget on line M3.

Budapest tickets 2026/27

Football in Budapest: Fradi, Újpest and a stadium for the national team

Ferencváros, known as Fradi, were founded on 3 May 1899 and play at the Groupama Aréna, opened on 10 August 2014 with a friendly against Chelsea. The ground holds about 22,000 and sits beside the Népliget metro stop. Újpest, founded in 1885 as Újpesti Torna Egylet, play at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion on Megyeri út, opened in 1922, designed by Alfréd Hajós and holding 12,670 after a full roof and seating were added in 2000–01.

Budapest has more top-flight clubs than any other Hungarian city: MTK, Kispest-Honvéd and Vasas are also in the 2026–27 league, at much smaller grounds of about 5,000 to 8,400. The Puskás Aréna, on the site of the old Népstadion, is the one that matters for big nights: the national team plays there, and so did PSG and Arsenal in the 2026 Champions League final.

The music venues

The MVM Dome, in the ninth district at Üllői út 133–135, opened in December 2021 and is the largest arena we list in the city; recent years there have included Depeche Mode, Iron Maiden, Roger Waters and Katy Perry. Papp László Budapest Sportaréna, opened in 2003 beside the Puskás Aréna, holds 12,500 for concerts and is still in use for touring shows, with Rod Stewart listed for June 2027.

Budapest Park, at Soroksári út 60, is an open-air venue with a summer season, and the Puskás Aréna takes the biggest stadium tours. Whatever from these venues has tickets on sale today appears in the feed at the top of this page.

Sziget and the island

Sziget Festival is held on Óbudai-sziget, Old Buda Island, in the north of the city, and usually starts in the first week of August for seven days. It began in 1993 as Diáksziget, a student event. It is not something we list.

What we list today — and what we don't

Anyseats currently lists Hungary v Republic of Ireland at the Puskás Aréna on 17 November 2026, Belarus v Albania at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadion on 15 November 2026, Ferencváros home matches in the Europa League against NK Celje on 26 November 2026 and Juventus on 21 January 2027, and concerts at the MVM Dome and Papp László Budapest Sportaréna, among them Pitbull, Bryan Adams, André Rieu and Till Lindemann, plus Slash at Budapest Park in July 2027. Every price shown includes fees: the number you see is the number you pay.

We do not list Ferencváros against Újpest at the moment, and we do not sell Sziget tickets. We would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Match-day tips

On a Budapest match-day

Hungary is on Central European Time, one hour ahead of the UK, so a 20:45 kick-off in Budapest is 19:45 in London. Kick-off times for league matches and for national-team and European fixtures are set by the league and UEFA, so check the time on the event page, which updates once a kick-off is confirmed. Derby matches between Ferencváros and Újpest have often involved police intervention, so expect a heavier security presence and allow extra time at the gates. The M2 serves the Puskás Aréna and the M3 the Groupama Aréna. Tickets are delivered by the seller before the event; your order page shows how and when.

When to visit

Budapest football season

The 2026–27 Nemzeti Bajnokság I season began on 24 July 2026 and is scheduled to end on 23 May 2027; twelve clubs play 33 rounds. The Ferencváros home matches we list this season are in the Europa League. For music, the MVM Dome and the Sportaréna run indoor shows through the year, and the open-air Budapest Park takes concerts in summer. The Sziget Festival on Óbudai-sziget usually starts in the first week of August and runs for seven days.
