About
Football in Milan
Milan is one of only a handful of major football cities in the world where two top-flight clubs share a single stadium. AC Milan and Inter Milan have shared the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Universally known as the San Siro, since Inter moved in for the 1947-48 season. The 75,817-capacity ground is the largest stadium in Italy and the seventh-largest football stadium in Europe. The Derby della Madonnina, named after the gold statue of the Madonna atop the city's Duomo cathedral, is among the most photogenic derbies in world football: tens of thousands of red-and-black or blue-and-black scarves filling the same bowl, often with synchronised pyrotechnic displays. Both clubs have proposed to leave the San Siro for new dedicated stadiums; the timeline remains uncertain at the time of writing.

Match-day tips
On a Milan match-day
Italian football kick-offs are typically 12:30, 15:00, 18:00 or 20:45 local time. The San Siro gates open 90 minutes before kick-off for the "Curva Sud" (AC Milan's home end) and "Curva Nord" (Inter's home end). Italian football grounds may check government-issued photo ID against the ticket details at the gate, so follow the delivery instructions and bring the specified ID. Bag policy is small backpacks or smaller; full-size luggage is not permitted. Concessions inside the ground are cashless. Allow 30-45 minutes after the final whistle before joining Metro queues at Lotto.
When to visit
Milan football season
Serie A runs August through May. The two derby weekends. Typically September-October and February-March, are the highest-demand fixtures of the season. October-March offers the most atmospheric matchday weather; midsummer Milan can be uncomfortably hot for late-afternoon kick-offs.

Will Milan get a new football stadium?
Both AC Milan and Inter Milan have proposed to leave the San Siro for new dedicated stadiums (some plans involve a shared new ground next to the existing San Siro). The timeline remains uncertain. If an event is cancelled outright with no replacement date, you're refunded in full for the tickets and any mandatory order fees, to your original payment method - automatically. A cancellation by the organiser is outside our control, so it is covered by that full refund rather than by the 200% Buyer Guarantee.
