Frankfurt — population around 770,000, fifth-largest city in Germany and the country's principal financial hub on the river Main — keeps its football identity at Eintracht Frankfurt, founded in 1899 and based at the 51,500-capacity Deutsche Bank Park (formerly the Waldstadion) on the southern edge of the city. The ground has hosted matches at the 1974 and 2006 World Cups and the 2024 European Championship, and is one of the regular venues for the NFL Frankfurt Games in the league's International Series. Eintracht's 2022 Europa League win against Rangers in Seville — the club's first European trophy in forty-two years and only its second ever — sent more than 30,000 supporters across Europe and triggered a city-wide reception in Römerberg square. The club has also lifted the DFB-Pokal five times. Beyond football, the Festhalle (13,500) handles the bulk of Frankfurt's biggest indoor concert tours, while the Alte Oper covers classical and chamber programming. The annual Frankfurt Book Fair each October — the largest publishing trade event in the world — draws hundreds of thousands of attendees. The S-Bahn lines from Hauptbahnhof reach Stadion station in around twelve minutes.

The ground is reached by S-Bahn S7, S8 or S9 to Stadion station, immediately adjacent to the turnstiles. The translucent inflatable roof — closeable in around 30 minutes — is one of the most distinctive stadium architectural features in German football.

Frankfurt's matchday culture is built around the Nordwestkurve and one of the most travelled away supporter bases in European football. The Eintracht Frankfurt fans' invasion of Seville for the 2022 Europa League final — an estimated 100,000 supporters travelled, of whom only 10,000 had tickets — was one of the largest unofficial European football travel movements on record. Champions League and Europa League nights in Frankfurt regularly produce some of the loudest atmospheres on the German stage.

Frankfurt also hosts the Festhalle Frankfurt (capacity 13,500) for arena tours, the annual Frankfurt Marathon in late October, the Museumsuferfest (Museum Embankment Festival) in late August, and Christmas markets across the Römerberg through December. The Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair) every October is the largest annual trade book fair in the world by exhibitor count and one of the city's biggest event weeks for visitor traffic.
