Brighton — formally Brighton and Hove on the East Sussex coast, with a combined population of around 280,000 — has anchored its football identity at the American Express Stadium since 2011 after a quarter-century without a permanent ground. Brighton & Hove Albion play at the Amex (capacity 31,876) in Falmer, on the South Downs four miles north of the seafront, and reach the venue via direct trains from Brighton station that run every few minutes on matchday. The club climbed from the brink of liquidation in the late 1990s through the Goldstone Ground sale to a permanent Premier League fixture, with their highest league finish coming in the post-2017 era. Beyond football, the Brighton Centre (4,500) and the Brighton Dome (1,800) host the bulk of the city's concert calendar, while the Great Escape festival each May spans more than thirty independent venues across the city centre. The annual Brighton Pride parade and Preston Park weekend attract several hundred thousand attendees. The South Coast main line connects London Victoria, London Bridge and Gatwick to Brighton in under an hour.

The ground is reached by direct train from Brighton or Lewes to Falmer station (a four-minute walk from the turnstiles); matchday parking is heavily restricted across Falmer with a park-and-ride from Mill Road. The stadium runs along the South Downs National Park boundary.

Brighton's matchday culture has been built rapidly under the current ownership — the supporters' Seagulls chant, the club's recovery from Withdean (the temporary athletics stadium they used until 2011) and the playoff-winning trip to Wembley in 2004 are all part of the modern Albion identity. The South Coast Derby against Crystal Palace and the M23 Derby against Watford are both fiercely contested when scheduled. The club's analytics-led recruitment model — selling Caicedo, Mac Allister, Cucurella, Mitoma development sales — has been widely studied across European football.

Brighton itself runs the Brighton Festival across May (England's largest annual arts festival outside Edinburgh), Brighton Pride in early August (the largest Pride event in the United Kingdom by attendance, with the headline weekend concert at Preston Park), and a full summer-season concert calendar at the Brighton Centre and Brighton Dome. The Amex stadium hosts a small number of summer concerts each year alongside the Premier League calendar.
