History

About Vicarage Road

Watford moved from Cassio Road to Vicarage Road, which was officially opened for the visit of Millwall on 30 August 1922. Greyhound racing was held there from 1928 to 1978. The club bought the freehold in 2002, sold and leased it back later that year, and bought it again in 2004 after a supporters' campaign that included an Elton John concert. The Sir Elton John Stand replaced the old Main Stand and fully opened in December 2014.
