History
About Turf Moor
Burnley moved to Turf Moor from Calder Vale in 1883, and the first match there was a 6–3 defeat to Rawtenstall on 17 February 1883. The first grandstand and terraces were built in 1885, and the ground staged its first Football League match, against Bolton Wanderers, in 1888. The Cricket Field Stand opened in 1969 and the Bob Lord Stand in 1974. The Longside and Bee Hole End terraces were replaced by the all-seated North Stand and Jimmy McIlroy Stand in 1996, following the Taylor Report.
