History

About Stadio Benito Stirpe

The Casaleno stadium was designed in the 1970s and building began in the late 1980s, but it stayed unfinished for about thirty years and the roof of its only stand partly collapsed under snow in 2012. The Comune di Frosinone installed three new stands in 2015–16, and a group led by Frosinone president Maurizio Stirpe won the tender in June 2016 to complete and run it. The ground was named after Benito Stirpe, Maurizio's father and a former club president, in January 2017 and inaugurated on 28 September 2017; the first official match, a 0–0 Serie B draw with Cremonese on 2 October 2017, drew 13,001. The total cost from start to finish was about €20 million.
