History

About Rugby Park

Kilmarnock moved to an earlier Rugby Park on Dundonald Road in 1877, and moved to the present site in 1899; the first match there, against Celtic, was the club’s first in the top flight and ended 2–2. The original grandstand was designed by Archibald Leitch, and the name comes from the rugby and cricket teams that shared the earlier ground. During the Second World War the ground was requisitioned for fuel storage. Between May 1994 and April 1995 three new stands were built, and the rebuilt all-seated ground was officially opened with a friendly against Blackburn Rovers in August 1995.

Seating layout

Rugby Park seating plan & capacity

Rugby Park is all-seated apart from a safe-standing area in parts of the East and Moffat stands, completed in December 2019. Disabled supporters are accommodated at the front of both end stands.

  • Frank Beattie Stand

The older west main stand, renamed in 2010 after the captain of Kilmarnock’s 1965 title side; it has some supporting pillars.

  • Moffat Stand

The south end stand, opened in 1994; offices were fitted into its upper deck in 2021–22.

  • Chadwick Stand

The north end stand, first used in April 1995, which houses away supporters.

  • East Stand

Side stand opened in 1994 that stops short of the end of the pitch because of houses behind it.
