History

About Philips Stadion

The ground began in 1910 as the Philips Sportpark, a village green in the Philipsdorp workers’ housing, and PSV took it over as their home in 1913. A first wooden stand followed in 1916, the ground was enclosed in an oval with a running track in 1941, and the track was removed in 1958, when Philips installed four 40-metre floodlights. A rebuild from 1969 to 1977 left every place under cover, and after cracks were found in 1987 the south stand was rebuilt with two tiers and executive boxes, opening in August 1988. The ground was renamed Philips Stadion two years later, the other stands were raised to two tiers between 1993 and 1996, and the four corners were filled in by 2002.

All 35,000 places are seated, and about 30,000 are available to PSV supporters, mostly as season cards. The Family Corner (section UU) is for children up to 14 with their parents, and section ZZ is a youth section for under-18s.

  The two-tier main stand, rebuilt in 1988 with executive boxes, offices and the press room.

• Oosttribune

  Sections U to Y of its lower tier are unnumbered atmosphere sections where fans may stand in front of their seats.

• Westtribune

  Long side stand, raised to two tiers in 1993.

• Noordtribune

  End stand, raised to two tiers in 1996.

How to get to Philips Stadion

Philips Stadion is at 5616 NH, Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Train

Eindhoven Stadion, a platform used for major matches and mainly for away fans, connects by footbridge to the away section. It is served only by trains coming from Strijp-S towards Eindhoven Centraal.

Bus

Lines 401, 402 and 403 stop at Philips-stadion, just outside the ground; line 401 runs between Eindhoven station and Eindhoven Airport. PSV Direct buses run from Someren, Asten, Bladel, Eersel, Uden, Veghel and Sint-Oedenrode.

Walk

About 10 minutes from Eindhoven Centraal station and 15 minutes from Eindhoven Strijp-S station.

Parking

The P Philips Stadion garage is reached only from the Anton Philipslaan. The PSV-laan on the north side is closed to cars, scooters and bicycles on matchdays.
