About Groupama Stadium
Known during the project as the Grand Stade and before opening as the Stade des Lumières, the stadium was designed by Populous and built by Vinci from October 2012 in Décines-Charpieu, east of Lyon. It opened on 9 January 2016, when Lyon beat Troyes 4–1 and Alexandre Lacazette scored the first goal. It hosted six matches at Euro 2016, including a semi-final, the 2018 Europa League final and the semi-finals and final of the 2019 Women’s World Cup. Groupama’s naming rights began on 12 July 2017 and were renewed in July 2025 until 2030.
