History
About Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore
The stadium was built for Reggiana to replace the Stadio Mirabello and opened as the Stadio Giglio on 15 April 1995 with Reggiana 1–2 Juventus. After its co-owners went bankrupt it was renamed Stadio Città del Tricolore in 2012 and sold at auction in December 2013 to Mapei for €3.75 million. Sassuolo have played their home matches here since 2013, and the ground was renamed Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore. It hosted the 2016 UEFA Women’s Champions League final and the 2021 Coppa Italia final.
