History

About MAC³PARK stadion

Zwolle city council voted for a new stadium in March 2003, and a 2005 referendum rejected a 400-machine casino in the plans before building went ahead. The mayor, Henk Jan Meijer, drove the first pile on 9 March 2007, and the complex opened on 29 August 2009, about 40 metres east of the old Oosterenkstadion. It first held about 10,500, and the stands were extended downwards in stages to 12,500 in 2013, 13,250 in 2016 and 14,000 in 2018. It was called the FC Zwolle Stadion until 2012, the IJsseldelta Stadion until 2016, and the MAC³PARK stadion from 1 July 2016.
