Archibald Leitch designed the South Stand, opened in 1925, and the North Stand of 1934–35. In February 1956 it staged the first Football League match played under floodlights. In 2013 Portsmouth became England's largest community-owned club, and in 2017 supporters voted to sell it to Michael Eisner's Tornante.
