History

About Ewood Park

Ewood Park opened on 15 April 1882 as a multi-sports and events venue. Blackburn Rovers settled there permanently in September 1890 and bought the freehold in 1893. The record crowd of 62,522 came for an FA Cup sixth-round tie with Bolton Wanderers in March 1929, when the ground was almost fully terraced. With Jack Walker’s backing the Riverside Stand was rebuilt in 1988, the Darwen End in 1993 and the Jack Walker Stand opened in 1994, and the all-seated ground was officially reopened in November 1995.
