History
About Easter Road Stadium
Hibernian played their first match at Easter Road, a friendly against Clyde, on 4 February 1893, on a sloping site then known as Drum Park. The club only secured the ground’s future in 1922 with a 25-year lease, and in 1924 built a 4,480-seat main stand on the west side and raised terracing on the other three sides. The record crowd of 65,860 came for an Edinburgh derby on 2 January 1950. After the Taylor Report the ground was rebuilt in stages: the two end stands in 1995, the West Stand in 2001 and the single-tier East Stand in 2010, with the pitch slope removed in 2000.
