History

About De Adelaarshorst

Go Ahead built the ground on the Vetkampstraat after winning the Dutch title in 1917, and it opened in 1920. A main stand by local architect Maarten van Harte followed in the early 1930s. In 1963 a covered standing terrace for about 12,000 was added, and capacity peaked in the 1960s. The ground was known as the Go Ahead-terrein aan de Vetkampstraat until 1971, when the club added ‘Eagles’ to its name and the stadium became De Adelaarshorst (the eagles’ eyrie). In summer 2015 a new Leo Halle stand was built and the main stand was extended in about ten weeks.
