History
About Stadion Maksimir
HAŠK built the ground beside Maksimir Park and opened it on 5 May 1912; Građanski also played there. After the Second World War the new club Dinamo took over the ground, and Dinamo has been the host club since 1948. The stands were built between 1952 and 1969, and the stadium hosted the Euro 1976 semi-final between Czechoslovakia and the Netherlands. Seats were fitted in 1997, a new North Stand was built in 1998 and the West Stand was rebuilt in 1999, followed by a renovation in 2011. The East Stand has been closed since the Zagreb earthquake of 22 March 2020. In February 2025 the Croatian government and the City of Zagreb presented plans for a new 35,000-seat stadium on the same site.
