• Čelik Zenica won the Mitropa Cup in consecutive seasons, the second time in the stadium’s opening match.
• Yugoslavia played there twice: a 1–0 friendly defeat by the Soviet Union in 1974 and a 1–0 win over Luxembourg in 1985 World Cup qualifying.

History

About Stadion Bilino Polje

Bilino Polje was built in about eight months in 1972 so that NK Čelik could stage the second leg of the Mitropa Cup final, which they won 1–0 against Fiorentina on 4 October 1972 to keep the trophy. It was once named the most beautiful stadium in Yugoslavia. Seats installed over the years cut the capacity from about 30,000 to 18,000 and then to today’s 13,694. On 31 March 2026 Bosnia and Herzegovina drew 1–1 with Italy there in a World Cup play-off final and won 4–1 on penalties to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
