History

About Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps

The club’s founder, the priest Ernest-Théodore Valentin Deschamps, bought land on the plain beside the Yonne in 1912, and the ground was inaugurated on 13 October 1918. It was renamed after him following his death in 1949. Under Guy Roux the athletics track was removed so the pitch could be enlarged, stands were built behind the goals in the early 1980s, the main side stand was rebuilt in 1984, and the two end stands were replaced in 1994. Further work in 2010 added undersoil heating to meet UEFA Champions League standards, and boxes added in 2015 brought capacity to 18,541.
