• It hosted the 1959 and 1988 European Cup finals.
• Matches were played here at the 1974 and 2006 World Cups, Euro 1988 and Euro 2024, including Spain’s 2–1 quarter-final win over Germany in 2024.

• The Rolling Stones played here in 1976, the first open-air concert in a German football stadium.

History

About MHPArena

Designed by Paul Bonatz and Friedrich Scholer, the stadium opened on 23 July 1933 and was known as the Neckarstadion from 1949 to 1993, the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion until 2008 and the Mercedes-Benz Arena until it became the MHPArena on 1 July 2023. A fabric roof was added for the 1993 World Athletics Championships. Between 2009 and 2011 the running track was removed and the pitch lowered to make it a football-only ground. The main stand was rebuilt from 2022 to March 2024 for Euro 2024 at a cost of €139.5 million.

  The opposite stand, whose upper tier was added in 2005.

• Cannstatter Kurve

  The end where VfB’s ultras stand; it has about 8,100 standing places.

• Untertürkheimer Kurve

  The other end, with lounges, the second video screen and the away fan blocks.

Metro / Tram

Stadtbahn U19, and the matchday special line U11, to NeckarPark (Stadion); U1 to Mercedesstraße.

Train

S-Bahn S1 to Neckarpark (Mercedes-Benz); S2 and S3 and regional trains to Bad Cannstatt station, then bus 45 to NeckarPark (Stadion).

Parking

Free public parking on Mercedesstraße and paid parking at the VfB Fan-Center and Clubzentrum; Park & Ride sites in Plochingen, Waiblingen and Leonberg cost 1–2 euros a day.
