History

About Kooi Stadion

SC Cambuur first presented plans for a new stadium behind the WTC Expo in November 2013, and the city council approved the project in July 2017. After developer Wyckerveste pulled out in 2020, Van Wijnen took over and the first pile was driven on 30 June 2022. The stadium, designed by Widdershoven Architecten, opened unfinished on 18 August 2024 with a 0–1 Eerste Divisie defeat to Helmond Sport. It replaced the Cambuurstadion in the east of the city, the club’s home since 1964, which was demolished from autumn 2025.

Seating layout

Kooi Stadion seating plan & capacity

Four separate, steep stands run close to the pitch, with the corners closed off by walls. The away section is fully fenced off, so it cannot be used as a short cut to the east stand.

• West stand (main stand)

Reserved for sponsors, with about 2,500 business seats and 18 skyboxes, reached through the main building.

• North stand

Home end with a supporters’ home of about 1,000 m²; Cambuur’s M.I.-Side ultras stand here.

• East stand

Side stand; on match days the street behind it becomes bicycle parking.

• South stand

End stand backed by a 150-metre building occupied by Firda.
