History
About Jan Breydelstadion
The city of Bruges built the stadium in 1974–75 after Club Brugge won the 1973 league title, and it opened as the Olympiastadion for the 1975–76 season. Seats replaced the terraces in 1993 to meet UEFA rules, cutting capacity to about 18,000. It was renamed after Jan Breydel, a leader of the 1302 Bruges Matins, in 1998 and given second tiers behind the goals for Euro 2000, where it hosted three group matches and a quarter-final. Club Brugge hold a permit for a new 40,116-seat stadium on the neighbouring Olympia site.
