History
About GSP Stadium
The stadium was built on the edge of Nicosia, in Strovolos, under an agreement to exchange the old GSP ground in the city centre, used from 1902 to 1999, with the state. It was opened on 6 October 1999 by President Glafcos Clerides, followed by a 3–3 friendly between APOEL and Omonia. The complex also contains an athletics stadium and a training pitch. As the largest ground in Cyprus it has hosted the national team and European ties for other Cypriot clubs, and in 2002 Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa used it for their home European matches.
