History

About Estádio Municipal do Fontelo

The stadium was inaugurated on 12 June 1928, and its first football match was played on 11 November 1928. It once held about 30,000, mostly standing, and now has fewer than 7,000 seats. A synthetic athletics track was laid in 1991, the stands and boxes were renovated in 2013, and the end stands were repaired in 2018. After Académico de Viseu were promoted to the top flight in 2026, the club and the council announced about €1 million of work, including a new pitch and new visitor facilities.
