History

About Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior

The municipal stadium opened in 2003 as part of the Rio Maior Sports Centre, a training and Olympic preparation complex run by the municipal company Desmor. Sporting CP’s B team used it in 2012–13 and UD Vilafranquense in 2019–20, while their own grounds were not suitable for professional football. Casa Pia, whose own Estádio Pina Manique in Lisbon is not licensed for professional league matches, played 2022–23 at the Estádio Nacional and moved to Rio Maior, about 85 km from Lisbon, for 2023–24. Before Casa Pia arrived, seating was increased to the stadium’s maximum and the floodlights were upgraded for television.

Seating layout

Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior seating plan & capacity

All places are individual seats in covered stands. An eight-lane athletics track runs around the pitch, so spectators sit further from the play than at a football-only ground.

• Covered stands

The stands are covered and fitted with individual seats, according to the operator.
