History

About Estádio António Coimbra da Mota

The ground in Amoreira, in the parish of Alcabideche, opened on 1 January 1939, a few months before Estoril Praia were founded on 17 May 1939. It is built over the course of the Ribeira da Amoreira stream, which now runs through a culvert under the site. On 13 December 1972 it was named after António Coimbra da Mota, a former club vice-president. In 2014 a new north end stand for about 3,000 spectators raised the capacity to 8,000, but on 15 January 2018 cracks in that stand forced a match against FC Porto to be stopped at half-time, and the stand has stayed closed since.

Seating layout

  • Bancada Norte

End stand for about 3,000 built in 2014 over the culverted stream; closed to the public since structural problems in January 2018.
