History
About Doosan Arena
The stadium in Štrunc Park, near the confluence of the Mže and Radbuza, opened in June 1955 as an athletics ground for a regional Spartakiad. A two-tier west grandstand built from 1958, a gift from the Škoda works, raised capacity to 35,000, of whom 7,600 were seated. After all-seating work in 2000–2003 cut capacity below 8,000, the city rebuilt the ground as a football stadium from April 2011, moving the pitch 18 metres towards the main stand and adding new stands behind both goals and opposite the main stand. Corner towers beside the main stand were finished at the end of 2016, taking capacity to 11,700.
