History

About Dens Park

Dundee moved to Dens Park from Carolina Port in 1899, and the first match, against St Bernard’s on 10 September 1899, ended 1–1. The ground staged Scotland v Wales internationals in 1904, 1908 and 1936, and League Cup finals in 1979 and 1980. Its record crowd of 43,024 came for a Scottish Cup tie against Rangers in 1953. After promotion to the Scottish Premier League in 1998, the terraces at both ends were replaced by two 3,000-seat stands built in 82 days.

Seating layout

Dens Park seating plan & capacity

The two end stands date from 1998. The main stand and the shorter single-tier stand opposite, which runs about two-thirds of the pitch, have supporting pillars that can restrict views.

  • Main (North) Stand

A covered seated stand with a curved line, so seats on the halfway line are furthest from the pitch; most of its seats are in the upper part.

  • Bobby Cox Stand

Single-tier end stand of about 3,000 seats, built in 1998 and usually holding home supporters.

  • Bob Shankly Stand

Single-tier end stand of about 3,000 seats, built in 1998 and used by away supporters.
