History

About Allianz Riviera

A new stadium in the Var valley was first planned for 2007, but work was halted in 2006 over costs and the project was revived for France’s bid for Euro 2016. Construction began in July 2011 to a design by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, and OGC Nice moved from the Stade du Ray in September 2013, the first match being a 4–0 win over Valenciennes on 22 September. The stadium hosted four matches at Euro 2016 and six at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and it houses the Musée National du Sport.

Seating layout

Allianz Riviera seating plan & capacity

The stadium has three tiers, with roughly 13,000–14,000 seats on each of the first two and about 8,000 on the top tier. Since 2021 a 15-metre net has been in place in front of the Populaire Sud and Ray ends.

  • Tribune Ray

The north end, named after the Stade du Ray, Nice’s previous ground.

  • Tribune Populaire Sud

The south end, also named in memory of the Stade du Ray.

  • Tribune Garibaldi

    The east side stand.

  • Tribune Ségurane

The west side stand, with the presidential box on the second level and the press box on the third.
