History

About A. Le Coq Arena

FC Flora led the project for a new national football stadium after Kadriorg Stadium could no longer meet international standards; the club signed a 99-year lease on wasteland between railway lines and building began in October 2000. The ground opened on 2 June 2001 with a 2002 World Cup qualifier that the Netherlands won 4–2, with the final seats fitted only hours before kick-off. The brewer A. Le Coq bought the naming rights in January 2002, and in 2012 Flora transferred the Lilleküla football complex to the Estonian Football Association. For the 2018 UEFA Super Cup the capacity was raised from 10,340 to 14,336 at a cost of about €7 million.
