History

About Ursapharm-Arena an der Kaiserlinde

Construction began in 1982 and the stadium opened in summer 1983 with room for about 2,000. Capacity grew to 5,000 in 1996 and 7,000 in 2002, and rebuilding for the professional leagues began in 2013. Pharmaceutical company Ursapharm bought the naming rights in November 2014, and in March 2015 storm Niklas felled the nearly 100-year-old linden tree, the Kaiserlinde, that gave the ground its name. After promotions to the 3. Liga, 2. Bundesliga and Bundesliga, temporary stands were added and new west and north stands built.
