History

About Ullevaal Stadion

Ullevaal opened on 26 September 1926 as the home of Lyn, who beat Örgryte 5–1 in front of 12,000 people; it was built with a running track for athletics. The first international was played there in 1927, and the Football Association of Norway gradually bought out Aker municipality and Lyn, taking full control in 2007. The Norwegian Cup final has been held here every year since 1948. The ground was rebuilt in stages from 1989, with new north and east stands, a new south stand in 1998 and a final stage on the west stand completed in 2013.
