History

About SNP Arena

The stadium was first planned for Heidelberg/Eppelheim, but that project collapsed in 2006, and building started in Sinsheim in May 2007. It took 22 months to build and was paid for by Dietmar Hopp and regional companies. It opened on 24 January 2009, and Hoffenheim beat Energie Cottbus 2–0 in its first Bundesliga match a week later. It was called Rhein-Neckar-Arena, then Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena (2011–2019) and PreZero Arena (2019–2026). It became the SNP Arena on 1 July 2026.
