History
About Nagyerdei Stadion
The original Nagyerdei stadium opened in 1934 and was used by Bocskai FC and Debreceni VSC; its record was 32,000 for a Hungary B v Bulgaria B match in 1952. Demolition began on 29 January 2013 and the new ground, built for about HUF 12.5 billion, opened on 1 May 2014. The first competitive match, on 10 May 2014, was a 3–1 Debrecen win over Újpest, and Hungary drew 2–2 with Denmark there twelve days later. Qatar used it for three World Cup warm-up matches behind closed doors in 2021, and since 2025 Israel have played home matches here while required to use neutral venues.
