History

About Košická futbalová aréna

The stadium was built on the site of the Všešportový areál, which was demolished in 2011. Construction began in 2018, and the first phase, with the two side stands and 5,836 seats, staged its first match, a friendly, in February 2022. The two stands behind the goals were built from April 2023 to spring 2024, and the official opening came with a 1–1 friendly between FC Košice and AS Roma on 22 July 2024. StadiumDB puts the cost of both phases at about €24.2 million; the city of Košice and the Slovak government shared the funding.
